Zullo -TVM - Van schilt team bike 1988

Sometimes you are lucky. Like I was, when I've found this TVM team bike. I've bought it from the commercial director of the Intergamma. His wife left him and he had to sell his house. The bike was hanging in the garage and had to go too. Because of his position as a commercial director he was invited by Cees Priem to be a VIP guest in the 1988 Tour de France. He was 4 days with the team on the road, when they arrived in Paris he got this bike as a present from Cees Priem who was the team manager at that time.

Although it was not the most famous Dutch team, they still achieved reasonable results. The TVM team was founded under the name TransVeMij in 1986. The insurance company TransVeMij (TVM),  was already sponsoring some amateur teams and decided in 1986 to set up the pro cycling team TVM.

In the famous 1998 Tour de France the team decided to leave the tour, like all Spanish teams, in protest against attacks by the judiciary and police crews who sought doping. The French team Festina was at that time already excluded because of organized doping. Team manager Cees Priem TVM ended in prison that year, beacause he was in possesion of doping products. In 1999, TVM dropped out as the main sponsor.

TVM had successes especially in the spring classics, including the E3 Harelbeke, Gent-Wevelgem, Milan-Turin, the Brabantse Pijl, Omloop Het Volk and Scheldeprijs were won by TVM. The classic Paris-Tours and Tour of Flanders were won by riders of the TVM. Furthermore, TVM also won stages in many small and large cycling tours.

The bike itself is still in a good condition. It is decked out with a complete 7400 Dura Ace group. The frame is made out of SLX tubing. It has some "patina" and is missing some paint an decals on the place were the bike was attached to the clamps to carry it on the team car. But remember that this bike is ridden hard and was actually used during the 1988 Tour de France. To me it is still unknown to who the bike belonged. I'm still trying to figure out to who the bike belonged. Some people suggested that it could be the bike of Phil Anderson or Johan Capiot.
