About

About this bike

Jan van Dalen started building frames in The Hague, in the barn of his parents' house. However, the demand for his frames  grew rapidly so he relocated to Hoek of Holland where he remained until 2002. Nowadays Jan is giving cycling  clinics in Maillorca. Duell frames are still being built, but Jan has nothing to do with these frames.

Jantje, as he was called long by insiders,  also built frames for PRESTO  in Amsterdam - nice steel frames with lugs. Duell bikes were well known in the Netherlands for their quality and refined details. One of those distinctive details was the brake bridge, which was square instead of round. Other saillant details were the painted logo's instead of vinyl one's and the cables that were slotted in the bottom bracket.

This Duell belonged to a former pro in Haarlem. It has the typical blue Duell paint job. The build quality of the frame itself is perfect, and has a lot of neat details, as you would expect from Jan van Dalen. The bike itself is still in a good condition. It has some wear and touchups but is still has a lot of life left. Handlebar tape has been replaced. Furthermore is the bike  equipped with an 8 speed shimano 600 STI groupset.
