Duell Course SLX 1991
About
About this bike
Jan van Dalen started building frames in The Hague, in the barn of his parents' house. However, the demand for his frames grew rapidly so he relocated to Hoek of Holland where he remained until 2002. Nowadays Jan is giving cycling clinics in Maillorca. Duell frames are still being built, but Jan has nothing to do with these frames.
Jantje, as he was called long by insiders, also built frames for PRESTO in Amsterdam - nice steel frames with lugs. Duell bikes were well known in the Netherlands for their quality and refined details. One of those distinctive details was the bottom bracket, which had specials slots to guide the shifter cables. An other saillant detail was that Duell's always had painted logo's instead vinyl one's.
I bought the Duell from the last owner in Eindhoven . It has the typical flashy Duell paint job, and the build quality of the frame itself is just perfect, as you would expect from Jan van Dalen. The bike itself is still in a good condition. Handlebar tape and all the cables are replaced. Furthermore equipped with an 8 speed shimano 105 groupset.
