Colnago Master 1988
About
About this bike
The Colnago Master is probably one of the most sought after Steel-Racers. It was first released in 1984, the same year in which Giuseppe Saronni won the Giro d'Italia riding a Colnago indeed. With this model Colnago achieved the peak of its steel frame manufacturing, but on the other hand, the Master also represents the end of the steel era in the bicycle industry (the first Colnago carbon prototype dates back to 1987).
The first version of the Colnago Master was produced until 1987-1988, before the Master Più was launched. The frame is made of "Columbus-Gilco Design - Profilo S4" tubes. Very light and stiff, this tubing set has profiled sections and was designed by Gilberto Colombo to improve the comfort and to better withstand the mechanical strain.
This stunning masterpiece of bike building shows beautiful, chromed lugs on the famous Gilco-profiled steel tubes by Columbus. Of course - as you can expect it from a Colnago - there are lots of nice pantos all over the frame. The bike is outfitted with a Campagnolo Chorus group. All the cables are replaced, the tires and the handlebar tape is renewed.
