About this bike

I have owned more then 50 gazelle Champion Mondials, but never had the chance to buy one that was build in the 90's , till I bought this one . I bought the bike from Jan Foesenek an amateur cyclist from Sint Willebrord, a small village near the Belgium border. The famous cyclingstore "Wielerhuis Hubert" was also in this village, and offcourse this gazelle was also bought there.   Jan told me a lot of stories about back in the days, the 80's. There where a lot of local criteriums and one of his best friends and cycling buddies turned out to be Johan van der Velde. They trained together, ate together and also Jan also came often to his home. Well we talked about a lot of stuff cycling related, but lets get to this wonderfull bike.

This gazelle AA special is build in 1991. It has all the expensive extra options that were possible;  extra bottle fixing in the seattube, fixing for a pump, race tag holder and the chromed rearstays and dropouts. Only option that is missing is the chromed front fork.  Framenumber is 1913115, which indicates 1991.

The bike is in a exceptional good condition. It has almost no visible damages. Mr Foesenek really cared about his gazelle, and you can see that, it has almost no visible damages. except some small paint flaws on the topttube. Sadly the toptube has a small dent from the handlebar that smashed into the tube. Jan told me that he was not aware of this smaal flaw. He told me furiously that he lent the bike to weeks before I arrived to the son of his sister and that he probably did it 🙂

This gazelle Champion Mondial is an very well preserved example of the late 90's build Champion mondial's. In the Gazelle hierarchy this was the top of the bill. Exactly these frames were used by a lot of pro team during the 90's. The frame itself is made out of sturdy Reynolds 531C tubes and decked out with a the last generation of the Dura Ace 7400 group group, the 7403. The paintjob on this bike is still in a very good condition and a typical 90's design . The chance that you will find another one is almost none. The bike is in such a good condition. The chrome is perfect, paint has some flaws. The groupset itself is in a perfect condition and and also still shifts perfect.
