About

About this bike

From 1986 to 1992, Batavus was the official bike supplier/sponsor for the Royal Dutch Cycling Union (KNWU). This bike is one of those and was probably used later on as a training bike by former pro Astrid van Tol. This bike is a legit team bike that was used by the National dutch team (KNWU)that was was sponsored by AMEV back in the 90's. It is even possible that this bike has competed in the World championships in 1986, but I can't guarantee this.

It is equipped with a full Sachs New Success group which is pretty rare. The Sachs New Success group was a well designed, well constructed and well finished piece of equipment - but Sachs was just not a fashionable name in the peleton - and thus it did not sell. The parts were contract made from companies all over europe. The cranks and shifters were made by campagnolo, the brakes by Modolo and the derailleurs were their own design and also sold as part of the EDCO Group.

The frame itself is made out of sturdy columbus SLX tubes and has a race number holder and a cinelli 'spoiler' bottom bracket, which also indicates that this is the real deal. The groupset is a Sachs new success. The front hub has been replaced with a campagnolo chorus one, rims are the well known mavic MA40' ones.  The bike is in a good condition. It is used so it has some marks here and there. Chrome is good and it has no structural damage like cracks or dents. This is a premium quality racing bike with a nice (hi)story attached to it. If you want an authentic piece of Dutch cycling history, this is your chance..
