1982 Gazelle Champion Mondial AA special Piet de Wit Skala team colors.
In the seventies and eighties Gazelle developed into the largest producer of handmade racing frames in Western Europe. While the "normal" bikes were produced on automated production lines, the racing department continued to make handcrafted frames. Thirty to forty specialists provide on average per person one frame per day. The AA special was the top model that was produced in the factory in Dieren. Therefore this AA special is even more rare, not only is it the best that you could get but it is also a limited run produced for Piet de Wit.
Piet de Wit was an accomplished track rider and was twice world amateur champion. After his track career he became a meritorious professional cyclist and rode for the famous caballero outfit. After his pro career Piet started a bike shop in Wormer. Because of his excellent relations with the Gazelle factory in Dieren, he got it done that Gazelle foresaw the frames he ordered from top tube decals "model Piet de Wit."
I've bought the bike from the first owner, Han de Vries. It's practically unused and you can see that the last owner was very proud on his gorgeous bike. According to the framenumber is the bike produced1982. It is equipped with a complete Super record group in near NOS condition. The colour scheme is the SKALA- GAZELLE team colors which are one of the best color combinations gazelle ever produced. Very rare and very beautiful in this condition
