About this bike

I have owned several bikes but never had a Viner before. Viner is one of the lesser known Italian brands. Sadly a lot of info about Viner’s old frames and bikes were lost when Viner founder Viviano Nerozzi, and his son in law Cesare Baldi passed away.

Back in the 70's and the 80's there were two types of Viner frame's available – the Special Professional and the Special Corsa. Basically, the Special Professional was the top of the range, it had Star (Stella) cut out lugs (including a massive cut out star on the bottom bracket shell) and was built with Columbus tubing (more than likely SL). These were the frames that were usually exported to the UK and US. The Special Corsa was the ‘cheaper’ model, and had cross cut out lugs and was built using Reynolds 531 tubing.

Let's get back to the Viner I'm selling here. I bought this bike from the first owner. He was an enthusiastic cyclist back in the 70's, after an accident he decided to store his bike in his bassement. It stayed there for 30 years until I've bought it from him. The bike is still in a good condition, although it has some patina. The frame itself is made out of reynolds 531C tubes, has nice cut outs in the bracket and beautiful engraphed details. Furthermore is the bike equiped with a Campagnolo drivetrain, Sugino mighty crankset and shimano 600 brakes.  The wheelset consists of early mavic clinchers laced to Campagnolo Gran Sport naven. A real piece of Italian cycling history for a nice price.
